Poland referred to EU court over approach to challenges of air quality plans

( June 18, 2025, 13:38 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Poland has been referred to the EU's highest court, the European Court of Justice, by the European Commission for allegedly failing to ensure that members of the public can challenge the absence or insufficiency of air quality plans. EU member states are required to adopt air quality plans to protect human health and the environment under the EU Ambient Air Quality Directive. Individuals and NGOs can legally challenge insufficient of lack of such plans according to the Aarhus Convention and the EU Treaties.Full press release follows:...
