Some claims against TikTok in consumer-protection case can proceed, Oregon judge says

( June 17, 2025, 18:40 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: An Oregon judge allowed some claims to proceed against TikTok under Oregon's consumer protection laws, and dismissed others as barred by Section 230 and the First Amendment. The judge ruled that Oregon can pursue allegations that TikTok misled users about the safety and effectiveness of its app features, but its alleged failure to disclose generalized dangers to children and to properly moderate content is barred. Claims against TikTok related to the effectiveness of its safety tools or specific misrepresentations about that TikTok actively promoted can go forward. He also denied TikTok's motion to dismiss for lack of jurisdiction.See attached ruling....
