Car industry association calls for preservation of EU regulation on SEPs

( June 17, 2025, 16:02 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: ACEA, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association, is urging key members of the European Parliament to oppose the European Commission’s plan to withdraw the proposal for a regulation on standard essential patent licensing. The automobile industry views this regulation as vital for fair access to technologies such as 5G and Wi-Fi used in connected and automated vehicles. In its letter, ACEA warns that abandoning the regulation would harm European competitiveness. The association asks lawmakers to stick to the position expressed by the parliament's Conference of Committee Chairs, which in May opposed the commission's withdrawal of the bill.See letter attached....
