LiveRamp moves to dismiss privacy claims, warning of ad industry harms from US suit

( May 19, 2025, 23:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: LiveRamp asked a federal judge in California to dismiss an array of privacy claims against the data broker, saying there is no allegation that LiveRamp misrepresented the data it collects about people. "Plaintiffs’ theory would impose sweeping new rules for the online advertising industry and deem illegal longstanding practices that help keep the internet free.  This theory finds no support in the law.  Worse, it explodes the careful balance that California voters struck in 2020 when they enacted The California Privacy Rights Act (“CPRA”) through Proposition 24, a statewide ballot initiative," LiveRamp said in asking US District Judge Jon Tigar to dismiss the complaint.See attached document....
