NASCAR says racers improperly asserting privilege in US antitrust suit

( June 16, 2025, 15:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex summary: The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing is challenging “improper claims of privilege” asserted by the Race Team Alliance in US antitrust litigation where NASCAR is accused of being a monopolist and the RTA is accused of being a cartel. “A business person explaining the tactics taken by the teams is not legal advice and does not constitute the request or provision of legal advice,” NASCAR said in a response to a court order regarding discovery disputes in the case. NASCAR also asked the US Western District of North Carolina to compel production of “highly relevant” text messages from RTA Executive Director Jonathan Marshall. See attached file....
