Brazil mandates facial recognition at stadiums amid security investigation

While public security authorities see facial biometrics as ensuring safety, experts have raised concerns about potential violations of Brazil's data protection law. The National Data Protection Authority, or ANPD, is investigating 23 teams for allegedly mishandling data related to minors.The installation of facial recognition security cameras at large soccer stadiums in Brazil will be mandatory starting this Saturday as a result of a measure in in the General Sports Law that aims to create safer spaces for fans.
