Tech companies see EU agreement on new GDPR procedural rules (update*)

The new law's aim is to streamline and speed up the cross-border enforcement of the EU’s data protection regulation. The new rules introduce deadlines for completing investigations, which was one of the final outstanding issues for the new law regulating cross-border GDPR cases. The parliament and member states agreed that draft decisions by the lead supervisory authority in these cases should be completed within 15 months, with a possible extension of 12 months for complex cases.Tech companies, from US giants Meta, Google and Microsoft to European startups, have seen an agreement on the EU’s GDPR procedural rules between the European Parliament and EU governments reached today....
