IP included in EU’s renewed crime-fighting strategy under financial crime

( June 13, 2025, 11:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Ministers in the Council of the EU have adopted new priorities for fighting serious and organized crime from 2026 through 2029, with IP crime described under "financial crimes such as VAT fraud and intellectual property crime." These priorities will be addressed through the European Multidisciplinary Platform Against Criminal Threats — known as Empact — which brings together law enforcement, customs, judicial bodies, private-sector actors and international partners. Other focus points include drug trafficking, cybercrime, online fraud and environmental crimes. The council also urged stronger funding to boost Empact’s effectiveness in tackling threats.See press release below:...
