Texas aims to force 23andMe to get affirmative consent to sell data

( June 12, 2025, 17:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a complaint against 23andMe in its ongoing bankruptcy proceedings asking the judge to declare that the company has to get affirmative consent from any Texan before selling their genetic data. Texans' genetic data is covered by both the Texas Direct-to-Consumer Genetic Testing Act and the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, and individuals have the right to request data deletion, Paxton said.Official statement follows.
