Kansas moves to intervene in US shale oil price-fixing claims

( April 8, 2025, 12:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Kansas state attorney general has moved to intervene in claims by several "political subdivisions" — including Ford County, Kansas — over an alleged price-fixing conspiracy by Permian Resources, Chesapeake Energy, Continental Resources and other producers over shale oil. The state requests intervention "to defend Kansas's sovereignty and parens patriae and statutory authority" from "usurpation," Kansas said, as the underlying suit attempts to foreclose the state's ability to prosecute similar claims, the state said in its motion to intervene filed to the US District Court for the District of New Mexico. Ford County has objected to the state's intervention, the motion said.See attached document: ...
