Getty vs. Stability heads to UK Court of Appeal over child-abuse material dispute

By Frank Hersey ( June 11, 2025, 17:28 GMT | Insight) -- The UK copyright trial that pits Getty Images against Stability AI faced further uncertainty on day three today as Getty was denied an appeal to amend its pleadings to concretely address questions around child sexual abuse materials in Stability's AI models. It said it would go to appeal judges, with unknown consequences for the trial. The High Court trial judge warned of resource limitations and said Getty must make clear how it could continue its case without jeopardizing proceedings.The third trial day in Getty Images' landmark UK copyright case against Stability AI raised a slew of procedure questions as Getty confirmed it would take arguments over child sexual abuse material, or CSAM, out of the High Court and up to the higher Court of Appeal....
