South Korea to launch project to process broadcast videos for AI development

( June 5, 2025, 07:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The South Korean government is receiving applications for a 19.32 billion won ($14.21 million) project to select four consortia that will collect and process broadcast video data into massive datasets for use by artificial intelligence developers. The Ministry of Science and ICT said applications will close on July 4, 2025. The project is part of a broader initiative promoted by the government to support the development of world-class large language models optimized for the local context. Each of the four consortia will be tasked with collecting more than 10,000 hours of raw broadcast video and reprocessing it into more than 5,000 hours of datasets suitable for AI model development, according to the ministry.The statement, in Korean, is attached....
