US judge grants stay to Trump in tariff lawsuit

( June 3, 2025, 20:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex summary: US District Court for the District of Columbia Judge Rudolph Contreras granted a stay to the Trump administration in a lawsuit brought by two educational toy companies challenging the president's tariffs. Contreras had awarded a preliminary injunction to the plaintiffs for tariff relief. But after a stay was granted by the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in a separate but related case, he granted a stay to "protect the President’s ability to identify and respond to threats to the U.S. economy and national security." The Trump administration has subsequently dropped its request for an emergency stay at the higher court it appealed the case to, the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.Court order is attached.
