Retailers accusing Energizer, Walmart of fixing battery prices file amended US complaint

( May 27, 2025, 23:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Portable Power, Global Exports USA, and Micropower Battery have filed an amended class action complaint alleging Energizer and Walmart entered into an anticompetitive agreement to slow decline for the price of Energizer's batteries, to ensure that Walmart's competition could not undercut the retail prices at Walmart, and to police Walmart's rivals in case they tried to compete on price. "Energizer agreed not only to inflate its wholesale prices for Battery Products, but also to require its direct purchasers to charge their retail customers no less than the price Walmart charged for Energizer Battery Products, even if Walmart prices were well above the wholesale prices that the non-Walmart direct purchasers paid Energizer," the complaint filed in the Northern District of California said.
