New Zealand competition watchdog receives just under $44.4 million in budget

( May 22, 2025, 02:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The New Zealand competition regulator is set to receive about NZD$74 million ($44.4 million) in the 2025-26 financial year under the national government budget. The regulator has lost about NZD$2 million in funding compared to the previous year. In a statement to MLex, a Commerce Commission spokesperson said that the reduction of the funding in the 2025 budget mainly relates to the planned transfer of responsibilities under the 2003 Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act to the Financial Markets Authority.
