Meta fails to completely get out of Flo Health US privacy case

( May 22, 2025, 20:56 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Meta Platforms must face claims that it violated California Invasion of Privacy Act by collecting intimate health data with advertisers that women gave to Flo Health, a US judge ruled. US District Judge James Donato denied a motion for judgment, saying that disputes of fact abound with respect to the scope of consent, the timing of Meta’s “interception” or “eavesdropping,” whether Meta “intended” to intercept communications, whether Meta’s interception occurred while the communications were “in transit,” and the like. Donato did grant judgment as to the plaintiffs’ wiretap claim, finding that Flo consented to Meta’s data collection practices.See attached file. ...
