US FTC's Ferguson, Holyoak say Biden-era suit against PepsiCo was 'purely political'

( May 22, 2025, 20:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson and fellow Republican Commissioner Melissa Holyoak said the Biden-Harris administration's Robinson-Patman Act lawsuit against PepsiCo was "purely political." In a joint statement after voting to withdraw the lawsuit, Ferguson and Holyoak said, "After having been shown the door by the American people, the Biden-Harris FTC rushed, on January 17, 2025, to authorize a suit against PepsiCo, Inc... Commissioner Holyoak and I vehemently dissented. The then-Democrat majority marched staff into court with no evidence to support the most important allegations in the Complaint." The former FTC leadership's choice was an "insult" to the agency's credibility, the statement said. "The guiding principle of this Commission is the rule of law. We bring enforcement actions only when we have the required 'reason to believe' the law is being or has been violated," it said.See attached document...
