Four countries designated ‘high risk’ under EU’s deforestation law

( May 22, 2025, 13:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Belarus, Russia, Myanmar and North Korea have been designated as “high risk” countries under the EU’s deforestation law, according to an implementing regulation published today by the European Commission. Companies from these countries exporting soybeans, beef, palm oil, timber, cocoa, coffee and chocolate to the EU will face stricter due-diligence requirements to ensure that the production of these commodities has not contributed to deforestation.
