Tennis tour, tournament organizers move to dismiss PTPA's US antitrust claims

( May 20, 2025, 23:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The International Tennis Federation, WTA Tour, ATP Tour, and the International Tennis Integrity Agency filed a motion to dismiss US antitrust claims from the Professional Tennis Players Association, arguing that the PTPA fails to allege it — as an association — has been injured as its members have been alleged to. Testimony from the player association's counsel and its own website contradict any suggestion that the PTPA even has members, and without injured members, it has no standing to sue, the motion to dismiss filed to the Southern District of New York said. "The participation of individual tennis players (including those who are already named plaintiffs) is critical to this lawsuit, and tennis players are the ones who must prosecute it and seek to represent the putative classes on whose behalf the PTPA—redundantly, and in an improper effort to circumvent the class- action mechanism—is attempting to litigate," the motion said.See attached files....
