Make interconnectors top priority, Spain and Portugal urge EU Commission

Despite the EU’s 15 percent interconnection targets by 2030, the Iberian peninsula remains an “energy island.” A lack of sufficient interconnectors hampers the deployment of renewables, increases energy prices and causes security-of-supply risks such as April’s blackout, says the letter seen by MLex.Developing interconnectors should be a firm priority for the EU, according to a letter delivered today by Portugal's Environment Minister Maria da Graça Carvalho to Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen, seen by MLex....
