Samsung tells US court DOJ's search suit remedies won't help it compete better with Apple

( May 16, 2025, 22:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Samsung Electronics filed an amicus brief today raising concerns about the remedies sought by the US Department of Justice in an Internet search monopolization trial against Google, saying the partnership with the search giant helps Samsung compete by providing royalty-free access to a "best-in-class" mobile operating system and app store. Samsung told the US District Court for the District of Columbia that a revenue sharing agreement over Google Search default placement promotes smartphone competition and innovation. Samsung’s Gemini contract also promotes smartphone competition, the brief said, adding that the DOJ's distribution remedies will not help Samsung better compete with Apple. "Samsung has a strong interest in this litigation because the remedies ordered by this Court could have a profound impact on Samsung’s global business and ability to compete in U.S. smartphone and browser markets," it said.See attached document....
