Review of EU merger guidelines should speed up, lawmakers say

( May 15, 2025, 11:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Eight members of the EU Parliament, including French liberal Stéphanie Yon-Courtin and German conservative Andreas Schwab, have asked the European Commission to speed up the review of the EU merger guidelines, currently expected to be finalized toward the end of 2027. “Such a delay is not an option,” the lawmakers wrote in a joint letter. "We therefore call on the commission to swiftly pursue a reform of EU merger control rules within a timeframe that reflects the urgency of this challenge."Letter is attached....
