Cleanaway's acquisition of Citywide Waste cleared by Australian regulator

( May 15, 2025, 01:16 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Statement: Cleanaway Waste Management’s acquisition of Citywide Waste can proceed, with Australia’s mergers watchdog announcing today it wouldn’t oppose the deal. The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said its investigation focusing on the acquisition’s impact on competition in the supply of putrescible waste-disposal services in Melbourne for commercial and industrial waste concluded that the deal was unlikely to have an impact on customers. “Ultimately, the ACCC found the proposed acquisition would be unlikely to substantially lessen competition,” ACCC Commissioner Philip Williams said in the statement.
