EU countries, lawmakers stack support behind SEP bill revival

The proposal will now be discussed at the May 22 meeting of trade and economy ministers, where EU representatives may pressure the commission to revise rather than scrap the bill. Meanwhile, lawmakers are escalating efforts to keep the regulation alive, with the European Parliament expected to formalize its stance in June. If revived, the legislation could significantly reshape Europe’s patent licensing landscape.A request to revive talks over a regulation for standard-essential patents from seven EU member state delegations is the latest move from EU officials over the controversial bill....
