EVs set to exceed 40 percent global market share by 2030, IEA says

( May 14, 2025, 15:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Electric vehicles will account for a quarter of new car sales worldwide this year — and to exceed 40 percent by 2030 — as models become more affordable, says the latest report from the International Energy Agency. China remains the market leader for EVs, accounting for 70 percent of global production. While car sales registered a 10 percent year-on-year growth in the US, they stagnated in Europe at around 20 percent due to fading subsidy schemes and supportive policies being watered down.
