Sugar companies move to dismiss US price-fixing claims

( May 13, 2025, 15:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: American Sugar Refining, Domino Foods, Michigan Sugar, United Sugars and Commodity Information told a US federal judge there isn't a single, well-pled factual allegation to support an alleged farfetched conspiracy among them to fix prices or to participate in a “give to get,” “reciprocal” exchange of information. The companies moved to dismiss antitrust claims over sugar. “Plaintiffs just lump all defendants together and make the vague assertion that at some ‘unknown’ time, defendants, in some unexplained way, agreed to fix prices for granulated sugar by exchanging supposedly sensitive information through Mr. Wistisen.
