State aid rules for housing to be reviewed by EU Commission

( May 14, 2025, 13:38 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission will review the state aid instruments available to governments to support the building or renovation of homes, as part of an Affordable Housing Action Plan expected in 2026. In a presentation shown to member states in April and disclosed this week, the commission says that the existing instruments are "not sufficiently flexible." Changes under consideration include a targeted review of the rules on Services of General Economic Interest, and changes to the General Block Exemption Regulation. A public consultation will be organized by summer this year.Document is attached....
