Google says US adtech monopoly ruling in Virginia 'neither binding nor persuasive'

( May 13, 2025, 19:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google told a Texas federal court that a ruling by the US Eastern District of Virginia in an adtech monopolization lawsuit against it is "neither binding nor persuasive." Google told the Eastern District of Texas, which is hearing a similar complaint, that when it considers Google’s motion for summary judgment, it should do so independently and grant summary judgment in Google’s favor on all antitrust claims. Google said the Virginia decision is inconsistent with how the Fifth Circuit appeals court analyzes allegedly anticompetitive conduct. "Google intends to appeal the Virginia decision once a final judgment is entered. If this Court were to give the Virginia decision collateral estoppel effect after final judgment or rely on its reasoning, and if the Fourth Circuit later reversed that decision, then this Court’s judgment would be subject to challenge," Google said.See attached document....
