Polwax should lose appeal of PKN Orlen-Lotos merger, EU court opinion says

( May 15, 2025, 08:39 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Polwax should see its appeal of PKN Orlen's merger with rival Lotos rejected, a legal opinion for the EU's top court said today. The Polish paraffin-wax maker is challenging a lower-tier court ruling, which backed the European Commission's conditional approval of the deal. Advocate General Laila Medina said the General Court didn’t fail to effectively review how the commission defined the market for slack wax, nor did it require an overly high standard of proof from Polwax to show the effects on the market.
