Meta faces preliminary injunction action over AI training in Germany

( May 13, 2025, 06:36 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Meta Platforms faces an application for a preliminary injunction in Germany against its plans to use personal data from Instagram and Facebook for artificial intelligence training. The consumer organization Verbraucherzentrale, of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, is aiming to stop Meta's plans in summary proceedings through a lawsuit filed at the Cologne Higher Regional Court. The consumer organization doubts that Meta can base its use of personal data on the GDPR's "legitimate interest" basis and says the tech giant is breaching the EU privacy law.The statement in German follows....
