UK, EU to discuss adoption of EU AI Act, Cyber Resilience Act by mid June

By Frank Hersey ( May 9, 2025, 15:55 GMT | Insight) -- The UK and EU will discuss the applicability of the EU AI Act and the Cyber Resilience Act to Northern Ireland within the next month, the European Commission has confirmed to MLex. At an April meeting of the joint committee that handles post-Brexit regulation, the UK side triggered a six-week review period. It will then have to accept the acts or find other ways to ensure the Brexit protocol runs smoothly.The UK and EU are now 10 days into a six-week period where the UK tries to establish a position on the EU’s recent requests to apply large parts of its AI Act and the entirety of its Cyber Resilience Act to Northern Ireland. No date has been provided, not even to the Northern Ireland Assembly, the devolved government for the UK nation that shares a land border with EU member, the Republic of Ireland....
