Acea Energia faces EUR3 million Italian GDPR fine, partners’ fines total EUR850,000

( May 7, 2025, 14:09 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Italian Data Protection Authority has fined Acea Energia 3 million euros — and a network of agencies a total of 850,000 euros — for unlawful telemarketing and misuse of personal data. Investigations revealed the aggressive usage of contact lists of recent energy switchers without consent or proper privacy notices. Acea had direct ties to these operations but has since revoked related contracts and implemented corrective measures, the watchdog said. The regulator also ordered stricter data handling and communication to affected individuals about the data breaches. The following fines were imposed: 45,000 euros on D.I. Stefanelli Federica, 200,000 euros on M.G. Company, 500,000 euros on Fer-Energy, 75,000 euros on Fer-Energy Call, and 30,000 euros on Diemme Group di Di Vico Luigi.Statement follows in Italian.
