Google must be forced to sell ad exchange, publisher ad server, US DOJ says

( May 6, 2025, 03:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Department of Justice and a coalition of 17 states told a federal court they seek a mix of structural, behavioral and administrative remedies, "including divestiture of Google’s AdX ad exchange and phased divestiture of its DFP publisher ad server," as part of a lawsuit in which the tech giant was found to have illegally monopolized some adtech markets. "Plaintiffs seek an order requiring Google to divest AdX. Plaintiffs propose that this divestiture occur as soon as possible and be overseen by a divestiture trustee, appointed by the Court, who would solicit potential buyers for AdX," the government said in a filing to the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Once the divestiture is completed, it said, Google should be banned for 10 years from operating an ad exchange. The DOJ also sought a three-part phased divestiture of DoubleClick for Publishers, its publisher ad server.See attached document...
