HMD withdraws EU antitrust complaint over 4G SEP in VoiceAge dispute

The move follows a recent Munich court ruling in favor of VoiceAge, which imposed stricter requirements on implementers raising a Frand defense, including the need to post security based on the SEP holder’s global license offer. HMD had initially accused VoiceAge of “royalty ambushing” and called for EU intervention in 2022.HMD Global has withdrawn its high-profile EU antitrust complaint against VoiceAge EVS, marking a turn in the long-running dispute over licensing terms for voice-call technology on 4G networks, according to a spokesperson for the European Commission....
