Meta ramps up pressure tactics for UK nod to its ad-free subscription model

The US tech giant appears to be betting that the UK regulatory framework will be more friendly than the EU’s and that it can influence how the Information Commissioner’s Office views the pay-or-consent model. The ICO doesn’t publicly appear to share the same optimism.Meta Platforms is talking up hopes of agreement soon with the UK privacy regulator to launch its “pay or consent” model for UK users of its social media products....
