UK Court of Appeal delivers Optis a win with boosted lump sum damage award

( May 1, 2025, 18:18 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A UK High Court judge wrongly rejected competing proposals by patent owner Optis and infringement defendant Apple on what constitutes fair, reasonable and nondiscriminatory, or Frand, license terms for Optis standard essential patents, the UK Court of Appeal ruled, because the methodology failed to give proper weight to hold-out behavior by Apple. In making their own determination of Frand, the UK panel said Optis is owed $502 million, plus interest, for Apple's infringement. See attached document....
