China assessing US signals for potential trade talks, Mofcom says

( May 2, 2025, 02:36 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China is assessing recent signals from the US about initiating negotiations on the trade tariff issues, the Chinese commerce ministry said today. The US has recently conveyed messages through various channels, expressing a desire to engage in talks with China, the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement. Mofcom said while China remains open to negotiations, it is also prepared to "fight to the end." China urged the US to demonstrate its sincerity by preparing to rectify its mistakes and eliminate unilateral tariffs. It also cautioned that any US attempts to make empty promises or to disguise coercion and extortion as negotiations will fail, the statement added. The statement follows....
