Laltitude denied reconsideration of order dismissing US design patent case

By Melissa Ritti ( May 1, 2025, 18:00 GMT | Insight) -- A California federal judge yesterday refused to revisit an August 2024 decision, entered by a different judge, that set aside a default judgment on design patent infringement claims against SoyeeGlobal. The court turned down plaintiff Laltitude LLC’s request to change the dismissal of its case to without prejudice. Laltitude had made the request so it could address standing, which it says it can now establish with an updated patent assignment conferring it with the right to sue for past infringement. The decision demonstrates the need for patentees to remedy assignment-related defects once they become known.A motion by Laltitude LLC for reconsideration of a decision that set aside an earlier default judgment entered against SoyeeGlobal because Laltitude lacked standing to sue for past infringement failed yesterday....
