Nippon Steel files reply to dismiss consumers' challenge to US Steel merger

( April 30, 2025, 23:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Nippon Steel told a US judge that a complaint filed by a proposed class of steel consumers challenging its acquisition of US Steel must be dismissed because the plaintiffs have failed to address any of their prior failed merger challenges dismissed for lack of Article III standing, which are indistinguishable from the complaint here. Plaintiffs' argument that the merger is unlawful because it furthers a trend towards consolidation in the steel industry has been repeatedly rejected in prior cases, and they "cannot escape this fatal defect by ignoring it," Nippon Steel said in a reply supporting dismissal filed to the Northern District of California.See attached file....
