China lifts sanctions against EU lawmakers

( April 30, 2025, 15:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China has lifted sanctions that were imposed on EU lawmakers in 2021, the European Parliament announced today. The sanctions targeted the chamber’s subcommittee on Human Rights and five individual lawmakers. This move was a direct response to sanctions that the EU placed on four Chinese individuals and one entity over alleged human rights violations against the Uyghur Muslim minority in the Xinjiang region of China. “The lifting of sanctions does not mean the European Parliament will overlook persistent challenges in EU-China relations,” the parliament said in a statement.Full statement follows....
