Lufthansa’s UK award in seat charger patent case to grow by $5.74 million

While such awards “may well be” unnecessary where infringement is “recent and continuing,” Judge Thomas Leech said he found “no obvious reason why an infringer should not be required to pay interest where the infringement is historic.” Lufthansa Technik AG won an additional $5.74 million as a result, on top of its prior $11.89 million award for infringement of an in-seat power supply patent by Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems, Safran Seats GB Zodiac Seats UK and Panasonic Avionics Corp.Lufthansa Technik AG has again prevailed before the UK High Court of Appeal in a patent infringement case against three defendants associated with the “EmPower” and “IFE” in-seat power supply systems....
