UK consumer-law enforcement will be targeted and streamlined, regulator says

( April 30, 2025, 12:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Consumer-law enforcement in the UK will be focused on compliance by businesses and action over the most "egregious" abuses, the UK competition watchdog has said. In a speech, senior Competition and Markets Authority consumer-protection official Emma Cochrane said that, where possible, it will "seek to streamline cases, focusing on the most important areas of concern and dropping less important areas quickly." It also said it will seek "early resolution of cases," where appropriate, through settlement. The CMA is now using powers to enforce consumer law dedicated digital markets legislation that entered force earlier this year. Statement follows....
