Meta accuses Snap of working with US FTC in fight over confidentiality protocols

( April 30, 2025, 00:37 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Meta Platforms and Snap filed a joint status report in the US Federal Trade Commission's antitrust litigation against Meta regarding the companies' fight over confidentiality protocols for the testimony of Snap witnesses at trial. Meta said it agreed to disclose Snap documents and testimony—but not specific questions—it may use to a team of Snap’s outside counsel who are "walled off" from preparing the witness to testify at trial, two days before the materials are used in court. But Snap opposes the use of a walled-off team of lawyers and demanded that Meta disclose to Snap in advance the specific questions Meta plans to ask any Snap witness or expert witness that could implicate a Snap document, Meta said. Meta asserted that it shouldn't have to disclose its examination strategy to Snap, arguing that Snap has been working with the FTC on the case for years. Snap collected a dossier called "Project Voldemort" of theories for antitrust lawsuits against Meta, and it shared that dossier with the FTC, Meta said.  Status report attached. ...
