US says Mexico will meet water obligations to Texas

( April 28, 2025, 20:52 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex summary: The US Department of State said Mexico will meet its obligations under a 1944 treaty to deliver water to Texas. The State Department said in a press release that Mexico will immediately transfer water from reservoirs and increase flows from six Rio Grande tributaries by the end of a five-year cycle ending in October in which Mexico must provide 1.75 million acre-feet of water to Texas. President Donald Trump had previously threatened to impose tariffs on Mexico over the issue.Full press release below:...
