Copyright claims should survive over ‘foreign works’ exception, judge says

( April 22, 2025, 21:34 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Copyright infringement claims by Maxxim Industries against Texas Chrome Transport in the Western District of Texas should survive a motion to dismiss, Magistrate Judge Betsy Chestney recommended. She wrote that TCT had reasonable access to Maxxim’s trailer and the designs are substantially similar. As Maxxim brought the claim on behalf of its Mexican subsidiary, its designs do not have to be registered with the US Copyright Office, the judge added.See the report and recommendation attached....
