UK AI growth zones could be put close to clean energy supply, minister says

The government is considering small nuclear reactors to meet needs, said the minister. Separately, a lawmaker said that the UK’s power limitations could be one of the only levers to stop uncontrolled AI development.The UK government has received more than 200 expressions of interest from regions and businesses hoping to be designated AI Growth Zones as part of a new program, but the possibility of clean energy supplies will determine which are successful, said minister Patrick Vallance the government's technology spokesperson in Parliament's upper chamber. Parts of the country with large numbers of data centers foresee limits on energy capacity....
