Japan's KYB, Suzuki Motor dealership violated subcontract law, JFTC says

( April 24, 2025, 07:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japanese auto parts maker KYB and the Oita-based Suzuki Motor's dealership operator violated the Subcontract Act by harming their subcontractors' interests, the Japan Fair Trade Commission said today. KYB, a publicly traded maker of shock absorbers, forced 167 subcontractors to store its more than 5,700 molds and tools without paying storage fees, and was told to compensate them. Suzuki Jihan Oita compelled eight subcontractors to provide 25 cars for customers during vehicle repairs without paying rental fees. The company repaid 8.5 million yen ($60,000), and was instructed to put preventive measures in place to avoid further violations. The statements, in Japanese, are attached. ...
