Under the new approach, such companies will be invited to negotiate a deferred prosecution agreement, unless exceptional circumstances apply, instead of risking a criminal prosecution and conviction. The watchdog said firms should report wrongdoing soon after evidence of it comes to light, rather than fully investigate the matter. Only a “genuinely cooperative” company will be invited to enter into DPA negotiations, the guidance adds.Statement below....
