Makers of 'J/SLIDES' entitled to dismissal of defamation claim, US judge says

( April 23, 2025, 17:58 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A defamation counterclaim by Jay Litvack against former partners Tina Ey Vean Liu and Dimitrios Mavridakis and their Hong Kong-based business Styleline Studios International are fatally deficient, US Magistrate Judge James M. Wicks of the Eastern District of New York.  In the same report and recommendation, the court said Litvack's related $5 million punitive damage request should be stricken by Judge Orelia E. Merchant, to whom the case is assigned. At issue in the dispute is alleged infringement by Litvack of "J/SLIDES" in connection with footwear, after his right to use the trademark was rescinded by Styleline.See attached document....
