Europe cannot afford procurement processes that stifle innovation, especially in strategic enabler technologies such as AI, cybersecurity and unmanned systems. Without a robust competition framework, there is a risk of "entrenched monopolies" that will hamper Europe's security capabilities for decades, Chair Tomaso Duso said.
